Some 200 million workers move around China every year, looking for work. They are the most marginalized and impoverished group of workers in the country, but they account for half of China's GDP. Author Hsiao-Hung Pai spent two years travelling in China, interviewing these workers witnessing life as it is lived by those left behind by the dramatic social and economic changes that have been enacted in the country in the last 10 years.
Authored by Hsiao-Hung Pai, published by Verso Books 2012. Hardback (but it is cheaper than the paperback, for some reason).
